Director, Cardiovascular CT; Director, Advanced Imaging Fellowship | Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute Dr. Cheng completed internal medicine residency training at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by general cardiology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. During general fellowship, Dr. Cheng became particularly interested in the potential of cardiac CT in clinical care. This led him to pursue an additional year of advanced training in cardiac CT and MRI, followed by joining the Cedars- Sinai Medical Center as an assistant professor in cardiovascular medicine. Since that time, Dr. Cheng has been part of institutional, national, and global teams focused on cardiac CT and MRI research initiatives to improve patient care. In 2012, he took a position at the Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma to develop what became the state's largest volume cardiac CT program by 2017. He joined the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute in 2019 and became Director of Cardiovascular CT in 2023. Dr. Cheng has authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed original research publications from his work in cardiac imaging.
