This year, from spring all the way through fall, we built our very own produce aisle right in our backyard. We used Vego Garden modern metal raised beds that will last us for many years. We also built a trellis along our fence just beside these beds, which allowed us to grow even more food vertically. In spring, we planted cold-weather crops such as lettuce, bok choy, cauliflower, arugula, celery, Swiss chard, cilantro, basil, and lemongrass. By summer, we had integrated warm-season crops including tomatoes, zucchini, squash, beans, bitter melon, tomatillos, amaranth, and peppers. Planting crops according to the season allows you to maximize your garden bed's productivity. As you harvest one crop, the next one is already growing.
