The Camiño dos Faros or Lighthouse Route in the far northwest of Galicia is a beautiful 200 km trek along the Costa da Morte. You walk along the rugged coastline as much as possible, mostly on narrow paths alternating with wide sandy beaches and the characteristic Rías. Where this rough coast used to mean the end for many sailors, there is now a lot of beauty to be seen for the experienced hiker. The route is divided into 8 stages of around 25 km, depending on the difficulty of the route and the available places to stay overnight. The route can be walked as a whole or in parts with corresponding welcoming hotels, packed lunches, and baggage transport. STAGE 1. MALPICA-NIÑÓNS | 21.9 km | April 1, 2022 The first stage of the lighthouse route begins in the port of Malpica and ends on the beach of Niñóns. This stage already gives a good impression of the rest of the trek as a whole. Along the way, you'll see the first two lighthouses, go over high cliffs, and walk along white beaches with their calm bays. Je loopt zoveel mogelijk langs de grillige kustlijn over veelal smalle paadjes afgewisseld met de brede zandstranden en de kenmerkende Rías. Waar voor veel zeevaarders deze ruige kust vroeger het einde betekende is er voor de geoefende wandelaar nu heel veel moois te zien. De route is verdeeld in 8 etappes van rond de 25 km, afhankelijk van de zwaarte van de route en de beschikbare plaatsen om te overnachten. De route kan je als geheel of in delen ervan lopen met bijpassende gastvrije hotels, lunchpakketten en bagagevervoer. ETAPPE 1. MALPICA-NIÑÓNS | 21,9 km | 1 april 2022 De eerste etappe van de vuurtorenroute begint in de haven van Malpica en eindigt op het strand van Niñóns. Deze etappe geeft als geheel al een goed beeld van rest van de tocht. Onderweg zie je de eerste twee vuurtorens, ga je over hoge kliffen en loop je langs witte stranden met hun rustige baaien.
