Today, we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by recognising the incredible individuals with Down Syndrome and their contributions to our community. At the Trinity Centre for Ageing & Intellectual Disability (TCAID), we are proud to include people with Down Syndrome in all aspects of our research and work. In our latest video, Mei Lin Yap, our Ambassador Liaison Officer, shares her experience of being involved in research and how we have supported her in her journey. Mei Lin’s insights are a reminder of the importance of Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in research – ensuring that those who are directly impacted have a voice in shaping studies that affect their lives. At TCAID, we are committed to creating an environment where people with Down Syndrome can actively participate in research and decision-making. By ensuring people with Down Syndrome have a seat at the table, we empower them to shape the direction of research. Their voices directly influence the research process, ensuring it addresses real-world needs and leads to practical changes that positively impact their lives. This World Down Syndrome Day, let’s continue to amplify the voices of those with Down Syndrome, not just today, but every day. Watch Mei Lin’s full video below and join us in celebrating the power of inclusion! 🎥 #WorldDownSyndromeDay #WDSD2025
