With the close of 2024, the Capital Region’s weather and climate narrative stands out as a story of extremes, punctuated by a few natural marvels, and some unforgettable moments. From the skyward splendor of both spring and fall stunning northern lights displays to the rare and breathtaking April 8th total solar eclipse, this year offered us opportunities to witness celestial wonders rarely seen. On the ground, the weather proved just as dramatic, marked by wild swings between wet and dry periods, and a summer severe weather season that produced an unusually high number of tornadoes.
