Captain Scott's Discovery Hut at McMurdo

The Discovery Hut in Antarctica was built for Scott's first expedtion in 1901. From there, along with Shackleton and Wilson hemade his first, unsuccessful, attempt at the South Pole. Over the following years other expeditions used the hut, such as some of the Ross Sea party of Shackleton's failed attempt to cross Antarctica. I had the fortune to be shown around the hut by Lizzie Meek, of the Antarctic Heritage Trust, who help conserve the this and other heroic era huts in the McMurdo area.
