This is not an exciting piece of gear, but it's all that a low level YouTuber like me can get his hands on fo' free. It’s a simple MagSafe phone adapter (Ulanzi MA07) that lets you mount an iPhone to a standard 1/4-20 tripod and cold shoe. That’s it. But it quietly made my Ulanzi mini tripod way more useful — and removed a lot of friction from filming with my phone. In this video I test a few practical (and mildly silly) ways to use it, then rant a bit about why traditional phone clamps and magic arms constantly get in the way of actually making things. Sometimes the most useful gear isn’t flashy — it’s the stuff that lowers the barrier between an idea and hitting record.
