This is the first time that I had to fully de-winterize my Travato. I paid $100 for Poulsbo RV in Kent, Washington to winterize my Travato, otherwise I would have to sign a document stating that they were not responsible for any freeze damage. They insisted that my Travato to be professionally winterized since it would be kept outdoors at their facility for several weeks during the winter to complete warranty repairs. Winterizing and de-winterizing an RV professionally typically costs between $100 to $300 depending on the inspection package you choose. Since our winter climate on the Olympic Peninsula is rather mild, I use a simplified method as follows: CAUTION: I do not recommend this simplified method in colder winter climates! • Drain the freshwater tank and the gray and black wastewater tanks • Drain all plumbing pipes including the hot water heater • Turn on the water pump and flush the toilet to get most of the water out of the water pump • Pour a gallon of non-toxic RV antifreeze into the sink drain and toilet • Keep the Travato connected to shore power • Set the furnace to 55 °F on electric power mode (comfortable to be inside). By using this simplified method, de-winterizing my Travato takes very little time and wastes no water. Essentially, all I must do in preparation for camping is close all the drain valves, fill up the freshwater tank, test the water pump, and pack up and drive to the campground!
