Blue Sky Basin today - so appropriate because it's a piercingly blue sky day! Vail is a huge ski area, the largest one in Colorado. Getting to Blue Sky Basin when you first arrive at Vail can be a trek. Start with a ride on Gondola One out of Vail Village, then transition to the Mountaintop Express Lift, get enough speed for a long catwalk, ski down Tea Cup Bowl, more catwalk, then drop into the base area of the Skyline Express Lift. The lift takes you up to Belle's Camp at the top of Blue Sky Basin, where you have access to Earl's Bowl and Pete's Bowl. At the end of the ski day, it's a mad dash to clear out of Blue Sky. The Tea Cup Express Lift is the last train leaving the station.
