Suit: Vintage Cufflinks: Vintage Watch: Vintage Tie: Christian Dior Vintage 01:47 - Cigars Overview Both cigars are produced in the Dominican Republic at the Tabacalera de García factory. The original White Series was designed as a complement to its Cuban counterpart and the Vintage Connecticut was released to showcase the USA's Connecticut tobacco. Both have a similar composition of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler and a Nicaraguan binder. However, the Vintage Connecticut uses an American wrapper from 2008 as well as an additional Peruvian leaf in the filler. 03:14 - Look & Feel Both have a firm and even construction. The original White Series is slightly dark whereas the Vintage Connecticut is rather pale. Otherwise, their wrappers deliver oily sheens with pleasant aromas. The original White Serise revealed haylage, raisins, and nutmeg. Meanwhile, the Vintage was spicier with notes of anise, birch, and cinnamon. 04:20 - Prelight Both cigars offer an excellent pre-light draw. The original White Series hints at aromas of dried apricot, vanilla, and hazelnut. As for the Vintage, is still spicier with flavours of tonka bean, cocoa, and nutmeg. 04:53 - Tasting Notes The original White Series offers a first third of latte coffee, cashew nuts, and vanilla. The Vintage Connecticut shared this latte coffee nuts but its nuttiness was closer to hazelnuts, and leather instead of vanilla. The original's second third revealed butterscotch, white pepper, and roasted thyme. Instead, the vintage was closer to chargrilled sage and malt. However, it also featured some white pepper. Finally, the original's last third delivers ginger, molasses, and oak. However, the vintage provided white pepper, dried earth, and oak. Overall, both are very smooth and creamy in flavour. However, the Vintage Connecticut offers a great evolution, more personality, and a lingering finish. 07:56 - Burn Both cigars had a good draw and provided a cool smoke. Similarly, their burns were wavy at times but the Vintage Connecticut was superior in correcting itself. Conversely, the original White Series had a stronger ash backbone whereas it tended to fall without warning on the Vintage Connecticut. 08:43 - Overall Experience Both have an identical main band but the original White Series has a small and understated second band. Meanwhile, the Vintage Connecticut has a large band with a detailed drawing of a tobacco field. The boxes are very different too. The original White Series is reminiscent of a Cuban cigar box with lots of embellishment. However, the Vintage Connecticut is more premium with a lacquer finish. Both are great cigars for a variety of occasions. The original White Series is an excellent crowdpleaser and the Vintage Connecticut can be reserved for more special occasions. Nevertheless, the pricing is similar. The White Series costs $12 for a single whereas the Vintage Connecticut is commonly around $14. 12:48 - Pairings Although the cigars are similar in body, we have different pairing suggestions. For instance, the original White Series would be nice with fudge or candied fruit whereas the Vintage Connecticut is better with savoury options like French fries or nuts. Both would go well with latte coffee. Yet, we would suggest a Campbeltown Scotch or a Riesling white wine for the original. The Vintage Connecticut would be better with an aged rum or even Champagne, especially if you also have French fries! 12:47 - Conclusion Both cigars performed well and received 5 stars using the Cigar Formula with the Vintage Connecticut scoring a few more points. The White Series is milder and more mellow with an overall smooth and sweet profiled. Conversely, the Vintage Connecticut is a little more complex with more personality and a generally savoury character. Already tried either White Series cigar or have any questions?
