Excitement was in the air as we prepared for one of the most scenic stretches of the trip. 🚗 Journey Highlights Sonmarg Tunnel (6.5 km): Crossing this long tunnel felt like entering a new world. The moment we emerged, we witnessed the first glimpse of snow on our Ladakh road journey. The sight of snow-capped mountains filled us with pure joy. Sonmarg Stop (30–45 minutes): We paused here to soak in the beauty, clicking pictures, recording videos, and simply having fun amidst the breathtaking surroundings. Drass & Zojila Memorial: At Zojila, we visited the war memorial where Operation Bison took place. The area truly felt like heaven on earth. Playing with snow here added to the thrill of the day. Fuel Break: A quick stop to refuel before continuing towards Kargil. Kargil War Memorial: Built around 1999–2000, this memorial stands as a tribute to the heroes of Operation Vijay. The atmosphere was deeply moving and patriotic. 🏨 Stay in Kargil We concluded the day at Zojila Residency, Kargil – a beautiful hotel with warm hospitality. Food & Ambience: Delicious meals and a cozy atmosphere. Staff: Polite and welcoming. Comfort: Clean rooms, proper service, and thoughtful touches like heaters and extra blankets made our stay comfortable. 🌟 Reflections This day was a blend of adventure, history, and natural beauty. From the thrill of spotting snow for the first time to the emotional moments at the war memorials, the journey from Srinagar to Kargil was unforgettable.
