Hello family, what's good? Hope everything is well in your world and that you're living your best and most harmonious life. I'm really happy to have this special opportunity to welcome you to the first release from KAVibez entitled "Requiem for George Floyd," which will premiere on Sat May 1, 2021 at 9pm EST. This is the first single from our debut album set for release on JUNETEENTH. KAVibez is the musical fusion between myself Azul and my main man Kayem, as we create ARTivist mosaics that span the length of our many years of friendship from childhood. Although he's in ATL and I'm in greater NYC, our musical instincts and frequencies always blend and bridge the distance. We hope you find the time to come kick it with the fam and share in this experience, as KAVibez brings our first new music creation to the world. The KAVibez crew and special friends got together a couple of months ago on zoom (as is typical) to share in our common humanity and enjoy each other's company. Only this occasion was different in that one of my close friends is also a friend of George Floyd's aunt, who accepted an invitation to come and fellowship on zoom with our group. It was such an honor to have Auntie come chop it up with the boys. We all know the George Floyd family has endured more than anyone should ever ask a family to bear. Through their struggle and immense sacrifice, their faith still endures; and a nation and globe stands steadfast in their charge with them. I told Auntie that just like we can't tell the story of our African American experience without mentioning Emmett Till, we can no longer tell our story without echoing the name George "Perry" Floyd. His impact is only just beginning, as the conscience of our nation was roused into permanent action by his tragic demise. Many angels like Perry continue to pay the ultimate price, their spirits are summoned to glory far too often, way too young and too damn fast! We won't allow Duante Wright, Rayshard Brooks, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, and countless others to fade into oblivion. They are survived by a nation that won't rest until we have true Liberty and Justice for All. Heads up, eyes open, fists clinched! Peace, love, blessings, and light.
