Each year, Newcastle-based domestic violence charity, Got Your Back Sista, runs a community campaign to educate and engage community to speak out against domestic violence. In 2021, we ran the 'I Run for Her' campaign which saw over 400 people take to the streets running or walking around their community with t-shirts messaged 'I Say NO to Domestic Violence'. As part of each campaign, Got Your Back Sista produces a video. This year, the theme is Coercive Control. Coercive control is a type of domestic abuse that is a pattern of behaviour used by an abuser to control, harm, punish, or frighten someone they are in a relationship with. Does someone in your life behave like this? Threatening Harassment Assuming consent Stalking Gaslighting Financial abuse Isolating Blaming Technological abuse Interrogation Degrading Humiliation Domestic violence is never acceptable. It is ok to reach out and ask for help!
