In brain tumors that are not in vital areas, removal of the tumor can give the patient a normal lifespan. If the patient has a malignant tumor then the situation is a little direr. A patient with glioblastoma multiforme which is a highly malignant glioma has a life expectancy that averages 18 months, even with surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. In case the tumor is not operated then the life expectancy reduces to 3 months.
