Join the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative for a discussion on the current state of humanitarian aid. This discussion explored the implications of the United States Government executive orders issued on January 24, 2025 that paused nearly all U.S. foreign aid for 90 days. This abrupt halt placed millions of people around the world at risk and compounded existing humanitarian emergencies. In addition, the discussion addressed the health, diplomacy, security, and mortality risks caused by the cessation of critical foreign aid and examined the shift in the role of the United States as a global humanitarian leader as a result of the 90-day freeze in funding. Speaker: Michael VanRooyen, MD, MPH - Director, Harvard Humanitarian Initiative Moderator: Irini Albanti, DrPH, MPH, MA - Executive Director, Harvard Humanitarian Initiative For more details, please visit the event page: https://hhi.harvard.edu/event/current... Our speakers have been invited to share their personal perspectives based on their own scholarship and experience; they do not speak for Harvard. Questions? Email [email protected]
