SANTA MONICA—On Monday, February 3, 2025, members of the National Guard Military Police and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a potential domestic violence incident near a checkpoint on West Channel Road and the Pacific Coast Highway. According to reports, National Guard personnel stationed at the checkpoint observed a couple in a vehicle and became concerned about a possible domestic dispute. The guardsmen alerted LAPD officers, who arrived on the scene and detained the male occupant while conducting an investigation. Officers interviewed multiple witnesses, including the alleged victim, and reviewed video footage provided by a bystander. After assessing the evidence, police determined there was no indication of domestic violence. The man was released from handcuffs, and the couple was allowed to leave without further incident.
