I spent 7 minutes walking through "Grove of the Felled Olives," a virtual memorial for the victims of the Gaza genocide. I only read a little over 0.15% of the names. This game visualizes the 60,000+ identified martyrs, listed by the Gaza Health Ministry from October 7th, 2023, to July 2025 as towers in a vast field. As you walk, you see names. Young names. Old names. Toddlers aged 0. Fathers and daughters. Each one was a life, represented by an olive. But these are just the identified bodies. This does not account for the thousands buried under rubble or the thousands more who died in the eight months since this list was published. In this video, I explore the horror of the scale of gaza's genocide, the symbolism of the uprooted olive trees, and reflect on a poem by Mahmoud Darwish. These weren't just names. They were people.
