Birmingham City Council | COVID-19: Keeping BAME communities safe (Shona language version)

Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities in #Birmingham and the West Midlands are disproportionately affected by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. People from ethnic minority backgrounds have a greater risk of death from #COVID-19 than white people due to demographic, geographical and socioeconomic factors such as living arrangements and jobs. Public Health England found people from black ethnic groups are most likely to be diagnosed with COVID-19, and death rates were highest among people of black and Asian ethnic groups. This is deeply worrying and highlights the importance of ensuring that urgent action is taken to protect members of the BAME community. In this Shona language public service message, Respina Mudzi, Dorothea Matsveru, Irene Pemhenayi, Charity Ruzvidzo and Tsitsi Mudokwani from the Zimbabwe Agricultural Initiative (ZAI) explain how those from vulnerable communities can protect themselves and each other during these difficult times.
