Music Video filmed in collaboration with Droneamatic (Instagram: @droneamatic) Special thanks to all the musicians who listened to this during production to critique and suggest improvements. By The Side is a song created over the span of almost 2 years, continually being added to or changed (this is my 35th-or-so export of the song). At the time of first writing this, I had nowhere near the following I do now and I just want to say a massive thankyou for all of your support. I've had my ups and downs during the production of this song and it was due to this support that I was able to pursue in finally releasing it. I was inspired by S.Carey for most of the piece but mainly for the smooth and simplistic melody for the vocal. Henry Jamison was also a big inspiration for the subtle and soothing vocoder choir in the chorus which backs the lead vocal. The song is a personal reflection about the transitioning period between being a teenager and becoming an adult. A state that I was exposed to during the pandemic, which tested my outlook on life. It’s about letting go of the sweet and idyllic feelings of nostalgia that I hold about my past and trying to accept what the future can bring rather than worrying. The mixed emotions in the lyrics and instruments present the mental battle of having to learn and accept this truth, at points with confusion, at times with denial, and others with excitement and optimism.
