Permanent committee to be formed for Musi River Conservation and Rejuvenation Project

S.K. Joshi, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development has directed the senior Engineering officials of the Irrigation department to come up with an comprehensive action plan with proper designing for the Musi River Conservation and Rejenovation Project within a month's time. The Principal Secretary after a detailed discussions with all the Heads of Departments i.e., GHMC, HMWS&SB, HMDA, Irrigation, Hyderabad and Rangareddy Collectorates said that this initiative has been taken up to take up the project in a proper manner to complete in a stipulated time duly fixing the responsibility to all the Heads of the Departments. The Principal Secretary said though the Commissioner, GHMC and other senior officials of various Government Departments have visited and inspected the Musi Project few days back as per the directions of the High Court and the work has also been started but in a very slow phase. It has been observed that the Heads of the Departments are taking up the works pertaining to their own department for which the project is being very badly delayed. Keeping in view of the above facts it has been decided to conduct an inspection with all the Heads of the departments like GHMC, HMWS&SB, HMDA, Irrigation, Hyderabad and Rangareddy Collectorates to come up with an action plan to constitute a permanent body and the officials concerned for the project to be regularly monitor in spite of their transfer or retirement to take up the moral responsibility until the project is completed without any hindrance. The team of officials along with the Principal Secretary, MA&UD have assembled at Attapur bridge and inspected the sewerage treatment plant at Attapur and the entire stretch of Musi River and later on inspected the sewerage treatment plant at Amberpet, Golnaka and had a brief interaction about the plant. Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC said that GHMC and connected departments have already taken up the beautification works of the Musi River Conversation and rejenovation Project as per the directions of the High Court. After the interaction with the Principal Secretary and Heads of the Departments it has been decided to constitute a permanent committee under the Chairmanship of senior Judge with all main Heads of the Urban Development Department, Senior Citizens and retired professionals having knowledge about the Project. It is further decided to complete the project in a phased manner within a stipulated time. Neerab Kumar Prasad, Commissioner, HMDA said that the team of officials who have visited Musi River Project under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary said the formation of Committee which is going to be constituted will plan the modalities as per the provisions of the HMDA and GHMC Act so as to place the same before the Government for taking up the project with sufficient funds. He also said that the HMWS&SB and HMDA doesn't have the funds to take up the project and it is depending upon GHMC and Government to initiate further necessary action.
