Hi this is Jay P Morgan. Today on The Slanted Lens we’re going to review the new MIOPS Smart Trigger. We used this trigger for our high-speed photography lesson, “How To Shoot a Light Bulb”. http://bit.ly/1MGGc9X The MIOPS Smart has 11 different modes. Six of those are native; you use them from your camera. It’s got lightning mode for light sensitivity. To be able to shoot in intervals it’s got the time-lapse mode. You can program it by sound, which is how we used it in our “How To Shoot a Light Bulb” video here on YouTube. You can set the sensitivity to high or low, so that a loud or a soft sound sets it off. There’s also a laser mode, which is neat. This mode will trigger the camera any time something moves through the laser beam. So you could capture, for instance, an animal walking through. MIOPS also has a DIY setting called “Scenario”. You can create a custom trigger with up to five different steps. What do you need to accomplish, what do you need to solve and how can you create a trigger that will get the shot that you want? It also has an HDR mode where you can do up to 7 different images. With a quarter to one stop variation between the images. You have the ability to control all the features on your phone. So you can set the different sensitivities, you can send that information to the camera. And you can expose from your camera. You can use the MIOPS Smart Trigger as a cable release. There are five features you can only do from your smartphone, such as touching the screen to open your shutter. Touching your screen to close it. The advantage of this trigger really is you’ve taken all the advantages of a trigger that will do everything from light to sound to laser and you’ve made it so you can run it from your smartphone with IOS or Android. If you’re doing high-speed photography you really have to use one of these triggers. In a nutshell, this trigger becomes a multi-faceted cable release for your camera. They’ve taken all of those things that you have different triggers to do or ways to do, and put it into one smart application. You can use it on your phone; you can use it on your camera. It’s just a great piece of equipment. So check it out, the MIOPS Smart.
