Are you thinking about how to make sure and elderly or disabled loved one stays safe, and are thinking a nursing home or facility may be the only option? There are alternatives! The Home Help Program through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services works to prevent individuals from going to nursing homes, and to keep them in the community. The program is funded by Medicaid. An individual that can no longer live independently can hire a caregiver or family member at no cost to help them with daily living activities. Medicaid pays for these caregiver services.
