There's this car when it first launched, shook the entire 🇲🇾 automotive industry. It's Proton X70‼ A big thanks to @protoncars for letting me experience the New X70 Facelift for a week. 1) Exterior Design The first thing that caught my attention was the exterior design. Compared to the previous X70, this facelift looks younger and sportier with more muscle lines. In short, it's more modern. The new 19-inch rims paired with Continental UC6 SUV tires 🛞 make it stand out. For the rear design, I do wish Proton could made more changes to differentiate it from the older model. 2) Interior & Features The full leather seats come with new grey color with black roof lining. Comfort is decent, though the seats felt a little firm. Both front seats have ventilation, so no more burning-hot seats under the sun 🥵. The new digital meter is simpler and cleaner than before. The touchscreen infotainment system is a big highlight because it finally supports Apple CarPlay & Android Auto‼ Vehicle settings are integrated inside the screen, and there’s also new ambient lighting across the front dashboard. 3) Driving Experience The 1.5L TGDI 3-cylinder engine (177hp, 255Nm) paired with the 7-speed DCT is more than sufficient for daily driving. I also compared it with my friend’s CKD 1.8L TGDI X70. Overall, the new X70 feels better tuned and optimized‼ That said, when you floor the throttle, that “burnt smell” still noticeable. Visibility is improved thanks to the new muscular bonnet lines, which make it easier to judge the front. Many owner complain about the side mirrors being too large that creates an A-pillar blind spot, but personally, I don’t find as a big issue😅. The 360° camera isn’t as high-res as before, though it still has the 3D & Transparent View (only works below 30km/h). Steering wheel also comes with quick-access controls.I also want to praise the Blind Spot Monitoring system. Warning light is placed inside the cabin (near the A-pillar), making it easier to judge compared to those placed on the side mirrors. 4) Fuel Consumption I drove 1,010km in total. With a full tank (around RM80), using Normal mode, I got about 380–400km (mixed jam, city & highway). Considering this is a 1.6–1.7 tonne SUV running on 19-inch wheels, it's quite a respectable figure. Any Proton X70 owners here? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences too 😁
