Hideo Hadano was a third-year student at Meiji Elementary School. One morning, the air defense alarm went off when he was on his way to school, and then he witnessed the crash of an American plane near his house. After the US planes crashed, eight surviving airmen were taken to the Kyushu Imperial University Medical School in Fukuoka. In 1945, eight captured American airmen were taken to the Medical School in Kyushu Imperial University. They thought they would be treated by the doctors in the University. Instead, inhumane vivisection experiments were waiting for them. At the time, the associate professor of the First Surgical Department, Taro Torisu, was named to join in the experiments. In 2019, the film crew got in touch with Taro Torisu’s niece in Osaka. In order to tell more people of this history, Kumano spent the rest of her life collecting relevant information. She obtained a lot of materials from her uncle and aunt, and checked many archives in the US and Japan.
