My Untapped.gg profile is public, so feel free to verify this by hand (link at bottom). I reviewed two play sessions using decks which rely on dark ritual to win. This Video - Bird Spy Combo: Click to 33:15 - We lose a coin toss 6 out of 22 games (27.2% we go first) I decided to count how many times I got Dark Ritual in my opening hand - It should be 40% Count along with me, we got Dark Ritual 6 out of 22 games (27.2% DR) Previous Video - Dark Ritual Full Combo: I checked the previous matches played on Dark Ritual Full Combo, another Dark Ritual deck. I went first 7 out of 19 games (36.8% we go first) I got Dark Ritual in my opening hand 6 out of 19 games (31.6% DR) Motive Discussion: A deck like this has a few win conditions: 1: try to go first 2: find dark ritual WOTC devs have stated that some combo decks can abuse the newer London Mulligan system. If I was a dev, and a prick, looking at player feedback (that they request every 4th match); I too might make a slider system which hinders those decks. Probability (Math Proofs): Source: https://www.omnicalculator.com/statis... Combining the go first probability of both matches gives us 7+6=13 go first 22+19=41 games Chance of going first: 31.7% Probability of going first 13 times or less: 1.4% [or] 1/72.6 Combining the Dark Rituals of both matches gives us 6+6=12 games starting with Dark Ritual 22+19=41 games Chance of getting Dark Ritual: 29.2% (target 40%) Probability of getting Dark Ritual 11 times or less: 10.55% [or] 1/9.48 Combining probabilities these events of occurring independently is simple math: At most probability (correct) (1/72.6) x (1/9.5) = 0.000782 [or] 0.1453% [or] 1 out of 688 Exactly probability (typically click bait) (1/124.4) x (1/20.5) = 0.000392 [or] 0.0392% [or] 1 out of 2,550 I have been playing this game on and off for around 350 days, and this is not the first time I’ve noticed luck this bad when using dark ritual, it’s just the first time I bothered to show it.
