What a difference a week can make, especially when you’re a growing eaglet. This special recap follows E26 through two snapshots in time, just seven days apart - and the transformation is remarkable. In the first half, we see a youngster still very much in the cozy, learning phase of nest life: practicing wing stretches and somewhat tentative flaps, proudly investigating a skinny stick (and seemingly showing it off to the camera), and doing the classic eaglet shuffle while trying to tuck under a parent. Full coverage is getting harder now - sometimes only the head disappears, later just the tail - a sweet reminder that this little one is growing fast. Mealtime still comes with plenty of parental help, with M15 and F23 attentive as ever, delivering food, tidying the nest, and making sure their chick is well cared for. E26 experiments with independence in small ways, picking at nestovers and using those developing talons to pin food in place while nibbling. Then comes Week Two, and the change is impossible to miss. By the 11-minute mark, E26 greets the morning with noticeably stronger stretches, hops, and confident wingers. Feathers are shifting quickly. Self-feeding becomes more assertive, with enthusiastic pounces and determined grabs at food. Curiosity is in full swing now, too - E26 spends more time near the rails, peering out at the wider world and even climbing up for a better vantage point. M15 and F23 seem to sense the change, allowing a bit more space and encouraging that growing independence, while still keeping a watchful eye. From cautious cuddler to bold nest explorer in just one week, E26’s journey is a beautiful reminder of how quickly these young eagles grow, and how every day brings them one step closer to the skies. 2025/2026 - Eggs Laid: 11/12, 11/15 Hatches: 12/18 As a reminder, here are the prominent event dates from last season at the SWFL nest Eggs Laid: 11/8, 11/11 Hatches: 12/14, 12/17 E24 passed 1/26, E25 passed 1/28 (avian flu) You can review the complete playlist of my SWFL Eagles videos from the 2024/2025 season here: • SWFL Nest of M15 & F23 - Season 2024/2025 Screen recordings from @SouthwestFloridaEagleCamFlorida Visit the cam to check in on M15 & F23 LIVE & follow their story....
