Eyelid Surgery Complications Why do they originate? How can they be prevented? How are they solved? Conventional eyelid surgery consists of removing skin and excess fat bags. However, the results so far are not entirely satisfactory due to the scars and deformations produced by these resective techniques. The upper eyelid The usual techniques for correcting the upper eyelid consist of removing skin from it. The resection of the skin of the upper eyelids not only leaves unsightly scars but also produces a decrease in the eyebrows and for this reason the expression of the gaze takes on a tired, sad and aged appearance. The technique developed by Dr. Ricardo Hoogstra and applied since 1996 consists of making a minimal incision in the upper eyelid through which the bags are removed, and then using laser technology to contract the skin. Thanks to the combination of these modern surgical techniques and the incorporation of the new CO2 laser technology, we managed to achieve what seemed impossible: perfect results, respecting the natural anatomy and without adverse effects. Lower eyelids The greatest benefit of the transconjunctival technique with the use of the laser technology used by Dr. Ricardo Hoogstra is that it does not leave scars, since it does not produce anatomical damage to the eyelid muscle. Traditional techniques remove skin, and this pulling effect of the sutures and the relaxation of the orbicularis oculi muscle usually causes the eye to not close properly, a complication known as “sclera show” or Ectropion. In turn, conventional surgery removes a small portion of skin leaving the rest of the skin on the eyelids aged. The carbon dioxide laser assisted transconjunctival technique used by Dr. Ricardo Hoogstra, does not damage muscle structures, does not dry skin, rejuvenates all the skin of the eyelids and ensures functional and natural aesthetic results. /////////////// Hoogstra Medical Centers Headquarters in Belgrano, Caballito and Pilar - Buenos Aires Phone: (54) (011) 4904-0880 / 4901-6690 Visit our website: www.drhoogstra.com.ar Online consultations and shifts Dr Ricardo Hoogstra: Plastic Surgeon; Full member of the Argentine Society of Plastic Surgery; of the Society of Plastic Surgery of Buenos Aires; of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon; pioneer of minimally invasive facial rejuvenation; Professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the UBA; Former Head of Plastic Surgery at Hospital Penna; Precursor of the invasive ZERO Lipomodelation technique; Director of the clinic that bears his name.
