Video: © TANG Portfolio / TimeWerke. The Omega Seamaster Exclusive Boutique Singapore Limited Edition was launched in January 2019. Well, 28 January 2019 to be precise. Why was this date specifically chosen? That is because Singapore was discovered by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles who was then the Lieutenant Governor of Bencoolen exactly 200 years ago on this same date, 28 January. Sir Stamford Raffles and his expedition party landed on a Thursday on 28 January 1819 and it was the third day of the Chinese Lunar New Year. The date 28 January 2019 is nine days before the Chinese Lunar New Year which fell on 5 February. The year 2019 is therefore the bicentennial of Singapore’s founding (1819 to 2019). As such, it also explains why the Omega Seamaster Singapore Boutique edition is limited to 200 pieces. It is priced at SGD10,500. The 39.5mm Omega Seamaster Singapore Boutique edition powered by the Master Chronometer Calibre 8800 automatic movement features a white lacquered domed dial with a blued Omega logo, blued Omega indexes and blued diamond-shaped polished hands. The Omega Seamaster Exclusive Boutique Singapore Limited Edition was launched at Flutes, a restaurant located at the National Museum of Singapore. This is where the Singapore Stone is displayed, one of three known existing fragments that this country has a history dating back to between the 10th and 14th centuries. Drawings of the three fragments from the Singapore Stone were published in Laidlay’s 1848 article in the Journal of Asiatic Society of Bengal. Coincidentally, the year 1848 was also the year Omega was founded. Special thanks to: i. Swatch Group; ii. Swatch Group Singapore; iii. Jose Cardoso; iv. Pauline Tang; v. Rina Koh; vi.
