There is a small fragment of bone at the base of the middle phalanx on the volar aspect 👨🏽‍💻This is a common finding with an avulsion fracture at the volar plate, usually the result of a hyperextension injury 👨🏽‍💻The fracture can be much more subtle than this one so make sure you scrutinise this area of the finger on the lateral view!
