Media Briefing: Officer Involved Shooting #4 for 2025

On June 22, 2025, at approximately 4:50 a.m., LVMPD Communications received reports of a shooting at a residence in the 5100 block of Hickam Avenue. No injuries were reported during this incident and detectives were assigned to the case. LVMPD detectives, including Detective Strahinja Pavlovic, were conducting an investigative follow-up in reference to the earlier drive-by shooting. Detectives observed two vehicles that were possibly related to their investigation, a black Nissan sedan and a white Honda sedan. Detectives began conducting surveillance on the vehicles and observed the cars enter a church parking lot where some of the occupants then switched vehicles before leaving at a high rate of speed. A short time later, detectives were able to relocate the vehicles and observed the black Nissan was now following them. Detectives arrived in the area of West Lone Mountain Road and Scott Robinson Boulevard and requested additional resources. A black male adult, believed to be associated with the suspect vehicles, jumped over a nearby residential wall onto Lone Mountain Road. The male then raised a firearm in the direction of the detectives and fired several times, striking an LVMPD vehicle. At approximately 10:38 p.m., Detective Pavlovic then observed the driver of the black Nissan, believed to be Daiveon Stone, extend his arm out of the window toward him in a manner consistent with pointing a firearm. Detective Pavlovic heard his LVMPD vehicle being struck by gunfire and he returned fire at the suspect vehicle. The black Nissan then fled the area at a high rate of speed. As additional officers arrived to assist, both vehicles were located at a nearby hospital and the occupants were detained. Shortly after, an additional suspect was taken into custody at a nearby residence. Two individuals in this incident sustained gunshot wounds and were treated at a local hospital. One of the individuals received non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the hospital while the other is currently in stable condition at the hospital. No officers were injured during this incident. An examination of this incident is being conducted by the LVMPD Critical Incident Review Team. This review focuses on policy, tactics, and training as it relates to this use of force.
