https://www.proacousticsusa.com In this video, Nathan explains what a speaker driver is and how it works. A speaker driver is the component that produces sound by converting electrical signals into sound waves. It functions using an electromagnet to move a cone or diaphragm back and forth, pushing air and creating sound waves that match the original audio signal. The size of a speaker driver affects the type of sound it can produce. Larger drivers handle deeper bass sounds, while smaller drivers are better for higher frequencies. There are also different types of speaker systems, including one-way, two-way, and three-way configurations. A one-way speaker uses a single driver to reproduce all sound frequencies. Two-way systems divide the audio signal between a tweeter for high frequencies and a woofer for low frequencies. In a three-way system, a mid-range driver is added to handle mid frequencies, providing a more balanced and detailed sound. Compression drivers are also covered, explaining how they project sound further by using a small diaphragm and a horn for increased volume and range. These are commonly used in public address systems and stadium speakers for better sound projection over long distances and are also sometimes found in PA speakers.
