Suivant le succès de son premier album et de sa tournée mondiale, KIZABA, révélation Radio-Canada 2024-2025 est plus que jamais sous les projecteurs avec la sortie de Les Églises de Kinshasa, deuxième single extrait de Future Village, son nouvel album à paraître au mois de février prochain. Chanté majoritairement en français, ce titre dangereusement dansant et à la direction artistique afro-électro assumée, mélange synthétiseurs cosmiques, boites à rythmes vintages et guitares hypnotiques, reines de la musique congolaise. L’influence du soukouss et de la rumba sublime ce titre afro-futuriste, traduisant parfaitement l'esprit créatif et engagé de l’artiste. Comme d’habitude, KIZABA parvient à créer un univers musical unique et savoureux, où le passé et le futur se rencontrent dans un bouillonnement si caractéristique du continent africain qui fait aujourd’hui vibrer la jeunesse du monde entier. Contexte : Inspirée par l’histoire vraie de son frère resté au Congo et victime d’un pasteur malhonnête, Kizaba livre un texte respectueusement militant. Lui-même chrétien pratiquant, il ne critique pas l’église catholique mais plutôt les abus de certains pasteurs congolais, qui ne sont pas là par vocation, et qui, malgré l’opulence, manipulent les plus pauvres afin de leur soutirer de l’argent. Face à cette réalité, l’artiste appel au paradoxe : danser plutôt qu’être frustré. Chanter pour conjurer le sort. Entouré de ces acolytes habituels, notamment Eli Levinson à la réalisation et James Benjamin au mixage et mastering, Kizaba se Sape de plusieurs chapeaux : producteur, auteur, beatmaker - compositeur et percussionniste, pour cette production puissante et engagée. Assorti d’un vidéoclip tourné à Montréal en collaboration avec l’école de danse Mafa Studio, Les Églises de Kinshasa, transcende les frontières musicales tout en honorant les racines profondes de l’artiste. A practicing Christian himself, he does not criticize the Catholic Church, but rather the abuses of certain Congolese pastors who are not there by vocation and who, despite their opulence, manipulate the poorest to extract money from them.
