I will always grow in 5-gallon buckets because it's so easy. There is no worry of stabbing the potatoes with a shovel or a pitch folk. Turning the bucket or bag upside down is the hardest part, and that's not hard. It's time to harvest the potatoes when the plant turns yellow and brown. When growing in containers, it's important to not let the potatoes dry out. Once the potatoes are out of the container it's important not to brush the soil off them. This could damage the potato skin which we do not want. In the video, I show how much fun it is when growing potatoes in 5-gallon buckets. It's so exciting to dig into the soil and see what's inside.
