Most people don't think of zone 6b when they think of bananas, but that is where we are growing these 3 types of bananas. We have Musa basjoo, Musa Velutina, and Dwarf Orinoco. The Musa basjoo is about 12 or 13 feet tall right now, and the Musa velutina is about 7 or 8 feet tall and is currently flowering and has over a dozen small bananas forming on it right now. Last year it didn't flower until September, so I'm hoping the bananas will have time to ripen this year. If you are growing a banana tree, let us know what kind down in the comments.
