This short film captures Springfield, Ohio in the fall of 2024, during one of our regular visits to see family. We arrived in the warmth of an Indian summer, watched the leaves turn brilliant shades of red and gold, and stayed long enough to witness the first snowflakes of the season. Experiencing the shift from autumn to winter felt like a mirror to our own lives - a reminder of how much can quietly change in a short time. We’ve been returning to Springfield almost every year for the past 18 years, and over that time the city has become a familiar thread in our story. It’s a place of grand historic architecture, wide streets lined with Victorian homes, and the charm of landmarks like the Westcott House by Frank Lloyd Wright. The town’s tree-filled neighborhoods and Wittenberg University’s leafy campus make fall here especially beautiful. Editing this video brought back not only the sights and sounds of those two months, but also a sense of reflection - on people, places, and how our connections to them can evolve in ways we never expect.
