SIAC Programme: Does a Right to a Physical Hearing Exist in International Arbitration?

On 26 January 2023, SIAC hosted an in-house conference which discussed ICCA’s Report on “Does a Right to a Physical Hearing Exist in International Arbitration?”. The ICCA Report surveys 78 New York Convention jurisdictions to address the question of whether a right to a physical hearing exists in international arbitration and the legal issues which may arise with virtual arbitration hearings. The speakers were Prof. Giacomo Rojas Elgueta (Co-editor of the ICCA Report) and Rachel Tan Xi’En (Rapporteur for Singapore for the ICCA Report). The discussion was moderated by the President of SIAC Court of Arbitration, Lucy Reed (President of ICCA).
