The first Docklands Light Railway B23 Stock has finally entered service!

After years of testing and delays, the first Docklands Light Railway B23 Stock (unit 209) has officially entered passenger service! Built by CAF in Spain, these new trains bring a completely modern look to the DLR, with walk-through carriages, live information screens, door lights, and USB charging points throughout. A total of 54 units were ordered: 33 to replace the ageing B90, B92, and B2K Stocks, and 21 to boost capacity across the network running alongside the B07 Stocks. Most of the fleet is still being tested on the network or stored at Beckton Depot or in Spain, but unit 209 marks the start of a new era for the Docklands Light Railway. This footage was filmed in October 2025, featuring unit 209 on its two final evening runs of the day between Stratford International and Woolwich Arsenal and back, before returning to Beckton Depot. It’s exciting to see these finally in service - but it’ll be sad to say goodbye to the classic 1990s DLR trains that have served the network for over 30 years.
