Charlotte Jane Kennedy, a British soprano, is the 2025 recipient of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation–Community Jameel Scholarship at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London. She is currently a member of the RCM's international opera studio, studying under Janis Kelly. Charlotte has been praised for possessing a “creamy soprano voice” that can “carry her effortlessly through one of the most demanding roles in the repertoire”. She recently performed as Susanna in the RCM’s 2025 production of Mozart’s 'Le nozze di Figaro.' Her previous roles include Giannetta in Donizetti’s 'L'elisir d’amore' (Garsington Opera) and Fiordiligi in Mozart’s 'Così fan tutte' (Da Ponte Opera Festival). She has also performed at the RCM as Maturina in Gazzaniga’s 'Don Giovanni Tenorio', La Bergère and La Chouette in Ravel’s 'L’enfant et les sortilèges', and Venus in Offenbach’s 'Orpheus in the underworld'. In 2024, Charlotte won the Loveday Song Prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards. She was also named a 2023 Leeds Lieder Young Artist and a Bloomsbury Festival New Wave Artist. The Andrea Bocelli Foundation–Community Jameel Scholarship was launched in 2019 to support students at the RCM. It is awarded to talented musicians chosen on merit, assessed at audition, and their need for support to overcome barriers and access the world-class training available at the RCM. The scholarship was established by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, founded by world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli, and Community Jameel, an international organisation advancing science and learning for communities to thrive.
