Vojislav Seselj's Opening Statement at the Hague Tribunal

Vojislav Šešelj, PhD (pron. [ʋǒjislaʋ ʃěʃeʎ]) is a Serbian politician, writer, and lawyer. He is the founder and president of the nationalist Serbian Radical Party (SRS). At the Belgrade Law School he earned his PhD in 1979 after successfully defending his dissertation titled "The Political Essence of Militarism and Fascism", which made him the youngest PhD holder in Yugoslavia at 25 years of age. From 1998 to 2000, he was Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia. In 2003 he was indicted by the Hague Tribunal for war crimes against non-Serbs. He surrendered to the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia on the indictment of "eight counts of crimes against humanity and six counts of violations of the laws or customs of war for his alleged participation in a joint criminal enterprise" During his trial he became notorious for constantly provoking and trolling the judges, mocking the trial, the prosecution and pretty much everybody except the cleaning lady and the mailman. In 2016 he was cleared of all charges. The decision has been appealed, and after the intervention of UNSC he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for instigating deportation, forcible displacement and "other inhumane acts".
