My first ever 1 hour piano collection video for relaxation and studying. However, The Silent City tells a much deeper story – a very important story, since I think it affects and is relatable to many people, including me. This whole project started in Leipzig, Germany, when I was wandering through the city late at noon, waiting for my girlfriend to finish her shift at a sushi restaurant. I have been several times to Leipzig before, but I still felt very displaced and unfamiliar there. People were hurrying from a to b, most of them focussed on themselves. One of my strongest memories that evening was a street musician with her acoustic guitar, making music alone in the middle of this alien city, surrounded by thousands of busy lives hurrying past her. She sang about her loneliness. She felt alone despite having so many people right there in front of her. "Is this the world now we're living in?" When she sang those words, the city that was pulsating with life just a second ago felt really, really silent –the true sound of the city. She inspired me to not only tell her story, but also all the other countless stories written between the crowds and meaningless noises. Stories about feeling lost and lonely, stories about becoming dulled and exhausted from all this movement, hurrying from a to b. But it also tells you the story of being hopeful, about finding those little moments of happiness and contentedness that keeps us going – until we can finally find peace and silence in this loud and noisy place. I really hope you enjoy The Silent City just like I enjoyed making its musical pieces. And since I enjoyed it so much, I also want to announce that I will continue making music for The Silent City in the future. There is so much more to explore in the cities, so I hope you will enjoy chapter II as well, when it comes out. As always, thank you so much for listening and your support! Big Rice
