In this video Doctor O'Donovan explains key things you need to know about tonsil stones. What are tonsil stones? Tonsil stones, or 'tonsilloliths', are small lumps of hardened material that can form in your tonsils. They can cause bad breath and most commonly occur in teenagers. The stones are usually small — it is rare to have a large tonsil stone. Tonsil stones are not harmful and may not need to be treated, but surgical options are available if they become a problem. What are symptoms of tonsil stones? They can cause bad breath, an irritating cough, earache, sore throat and/or a bad taste in your mouth. Good oral hygiene, including gargling with warm salt water, can help manage most tonsil stones. In rare cases, an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist may need to surgically remove your tonsil stones, if they become very large. ********************************************************************** Content and timestamps: 00:00 - Introduction 00:22 - What are tonsil stones? 00:58 - Causes of tonsil stones 02:00 - Why do you get tonsil stones? 02:25 - Symptoms of tonsil stones 03:06 - How to get rid of tonsil stones 04:39 - Prevention of tonsil stones **************************************************************************** Further information from trusted sources: Information from Patient Info: https://patient.info/ears-nose-throat... ******************************************************************* #doctor #health #medical #tonsilstones #tonsillitis #tonsils #tonsilstone ************************************************************************ Connect through: YouTube: / doctorodonovan TikTok: @doctorodonovan Website: www.doctorodonovan.com ************************************************************************** Disclaimer: The video is intended as an EDUCATIONAL resource only.
