This roundtable explores how feminist politics shape media production in the contemporary moment. Can we say, for instance, that feminist media made the mass feminist mobilizations of 2017 possible? How can feminist politics and media activism shape each other in the years to come? Panelists explored the challenges faced by journalists and writers who critique patriarchy and sexism and how digital media technologies reshaped the landscape of feminist practice. "Feminist Political Media: The Emergence, Influence, and Role" was the first roundtable presented at "The New Normal? Women, Media, and Politics Symposium" on Friday, April 28, 2017. This roundtable is moderated by Brittney Cooper, Associate Professor of Women's and Gender Studies and Africana Studies at Rutgers University. Speakers include: Jamia Wilson, Executive Director of Women, Action and the Media Rebecca Traister Writer-at-Large, New York Magazine and author of the New York Times best-seller, "All the Single Ladies: Unmarried Women and the Rise of an Independent Nation."
