Black-led churches across southeast London are being equipped with a new, faith-rooted health resource following the launch of a Bible-based immunity and family health video developed through deep community engagement and expert clinical input. The resource was unveiled at the Faith, Family & Health – Immunity and Family Health Event, hosted by Food for Purpose (FFP) in partnership with Black church leaders, NHS community teams, and public health professionals. It has been shaped by extensive consultation, including discussion groups, workshops, and conversations with church leaders, Black parents, young people, and direct responses to longstanding questions and concerns about vaccination, immunity, and family wellbeing. Unlike traditional public health messaging, this resource places faith, trust, and cultural context at its centre, recognising the influential role that Black-led churches play in shaping health behaviours and decisions. "Our community has been clear—they want trusted information delivered with respect for faith, culture, and lived experience," said Dr Shola Oladipo, CEO of Food for Purpose. "This resource brings together Scripture, community voice, and expert clinical knowledge to support informed, confident decisions for families." The video was co-developed with Black church leaders, expert clinicians, and public health specialists, ensuring medical accuracy whilst remaining accessible and culturally sensitive. A dedicated team worked alongside community contributors to translate these insights into a practical, church-friendly tool The resource is intended for use within Black-led churches, supporting: • Church-led discussions and workshops • Parent and youth education sessions • Community health events • Faith-based conversations about immunity and prevention At the launch event, attendees were invited to evaluate the video to measure its impact and guide future adaptations. Feedback will be used to strengthen further resources and inform wider community and NHS engagement. Partners from South East London Integrated Care Board (ICB), NHS community immunisation teams, and local organisations were also present, reinforcing a shared commitment to working with communities, not around them. Food for Purpose plans to distribute the resource across church networks and continue developing faith-based health tools addressing topics identified by churches, including HPV, heart health, and long-term conditions. 📧 admin@foodforpurpose.org 📞 02071013170 www.foodforpurpose.org Video link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1325B...
