Join me on this lovely summertime walk through the Ingleton Waterfall Trail past majestic waterfalls, lush fairy-tale glens and some of the finest ancient oak woodland in the UK. I fell in love with the beauty of these falls and the dreamlike woodland which they pass through when I was a teenager. Back then we used to camp for free in a small field on the Beezley Falls side of the trail and ever since Ingleton has remained firmly entrenched in my heart and imagination as the perfect vision of natural beauty. I hope you enjoy this walk as much as did and please do stick around to experience the second part of the video as we wander peacefully through the ancient oak woodlands. I'm so happy that I could finally capture this place on film for you all to enjoy. The four and a half mile Ingleton Waterfalls Trail boasts some of the most spectacular waterfall and oak woodland scenery in the UK, truly encapsulating nature at its best. Set in the North Yorkshire Dales at the gateway to the Lake District, Ingleton is a beautiful place to visit en route to the Cumbrian mountains. The trail takes you beside the rivers Doe and Twiss where you pass multiple majestic waterfalls which include Pecca falls (30 m), Hollybush Spout, Thornton force (14 m), Beezley falls, Triple Spout, Rival falls (24 m), Baxenghyll Gorge and Snow falls. The most impressive of them all is Thornton force where the river Twiss thunders down from a cliff of limestone over 14 meters high. This is a textbook case of geological unconformity, the river plunging over a cliff of horizontal strata Great Scar Limestone which overlays much older Ordovician Ingleton slates, and is a direct result of the Craven Fault which dominates the scenery of the western dales.
