The Queen is a powerful archetype of command, strength, duty and achievement. We are immediately aware when those with the Queen archetype enter a room. The energy totally changes. The Queen demands to be noticed. Her clothing will be regal, she will sit at the head of the table, choose a special chair, maybe even the highest chair in the room or they will sit on the arm of a couch just to be above everyone else. The Queen is always in command. She demands to be heard and when she speaks, others listen and dare not interrupt. The Queen speaks with authority and will rarely be challenged. The Queen will be in command of her kingdom, whether it be a household, office, classroom, school, business, government department, state, territory or country. Whatever her situation, the Queen will claim a territory and rule it as her own. This can happen at a very young age. A fine example of this was a student named Sasha. When she was only five years of age and in her first year of school she clashed constantly with her teacher. They were warring over the territorial rights of the classroom. The young Queen gathered three other students as her allies. They were all Princesses. If the young Queen couldn’t win the battle over the classroom territory she certainly made sure she ruled over her court and her courtiers from her corner of the room and the playground. There is always a clash of archetypal energy when two strong archetypes interact in the same space. This is also the case when two individuals with the same strong archetype are forced to interact in shared territory. Two individuals with the Queen archetype will always be at loggerheads if they share the same space. The Queen must be able to define her kingdom. There will be peace as long as she is not challenged in her own territory. Business managers, personnel officers, school principals and parents need to be aware of those with the Queen archetype. The Queen is a valuable colleague, an efficient organizer, an effective leader and an industrious worker if she owns territory, is in command and has the right to perform her duties. One of the greatest challenges for the person with the Queen archetype is to trust and allocate responsibility to others. The Queen has an innate need to manage all affairs and she finds it extremely difficult to let go of any task, no matter how simple. She understands that if you are going to do something you do it well. If something goes wrong the Queen must be made aware of the problem so it can be dealt with immediately. The Queen has a strong personal attachment and duty of care to her people and her tasks. It’s akin to the attitude between landlord and tenant. What does the Queen do to maintain control? She learns to delegate effectively. She gathers two or three trusted advisers and administrators. If she can confidently pass over some of her responsibilities and maintain good communication then her kingdom will flourish and she will maintain her stamina and health. Unlike the Princess who will spend just for the sake of spending, the Queen will have a purpose to all her purchases. She will splurge occasionally, but the Queen will spend to enhance her kingdom. These will usually be practical items although occasionally they will be to beautify her and her kingdom. The Queen will then finalise her expenditure and the savings will begin again. The Queen manages money very well. Everyone is aware of the drama Queen. This behaviour is negative Queen archetypal energy. The drama queen is in constant emotional turmoil over petty issues; behaviour which often occurs when the Queen is denied territory and responsibility. Parents, in particular, become aware that a child with the Queen archetype needs a place to rule. She needs responsibilities and duties, and the trust to carry out those duties. Restriction and boredom of the Queen creates emotional overkill; so allowing the Queen a kingdom will resolve some of the negative drama Queen behaviour. Another cause of this drama Queen behaviour is her low tolerance of others, particularly with individuals with certain archetypal characteristics. The Queen is not fond of Princess archetypal behaviour; she is less tolerant of the Damsel; and totally abhors Fools. Drama Queen Behaviour is often caused by the Queen reacting to the perceived stupidity and weakness of others around her. The responsibility of being Queen is stressful. It’s all work, all responsibility and the slightest infraction against their personal rule will set off an emotional response. Place the drama Queen in a drama school and this will challenge their energy and give purpose to dramatic performance.
