5,000 year-old High Tech

Liangzhu, a site that is home to a 5,000-year-old culture, is my home in China. Being a lover of Chinese tea, I set myself a task: to find out whether the Liangzhu people used to drink tea. 6,000-year-old tea plants, tea seeds and teapot-looking vessels were recently discovered at Hemudu, an even older culture, also in Zhejiang province. Is there similar archaeological evidence for the Liangzhu culture, which used black pottery vessels for food, water, and wine? I decided to visit the Liangzhu Museum to see the actual artifacts unearthed by archaeologists. I also met with an expert to learn about the innovative uses of black pottery as a daily utensil 5,000 years ago.
