Happy Kujichagulia! Cash was determined to have an outdoor Kwanzaa display just like the ones we’ve enjoyed during Christmas. So this is what we came up with. You’ll need: 1. (5) total Pool Noodles. (2) Red, (2) Green, and (1) White 2. (7) Solar Large Christmas Bulbs 3. Double Sided Foam Tape 4. Bread Knife from the Kitchen 5. Tissue Paper 6. Black Spray Paint All supplies came from our local Dollar Tree and cost a total of $15 to make (1) Outdoor Kinara. In advance, spray paint your white pool noodle black and let dry. We were able to both paint and use the black pool noodle on the same day. The pool noodles sold in Dollar Tree are 46 inches long. We measured 23” on each noodle and cut them down into (10) shorter pieces. You’ll have one of each color remaining when you are done. Now move on to the Bulbs. Remove each ground stake from the bottom and set aside. Also remove all tags and the paper tab that blocks the circuit of the bulb. Take the double side foam tape and wrap it around the base of each bulb. The fit is perfect and the foam tape will make sure the build doesn’t fall out. Next add the stake. We stuffed the bottom with a sheet of tissue paper to both stiffen the bottom of the candle (You do see these are candles, right?) and to give the stake something to hold it in place. Add tape to the stake, just like you did the bulb and stuff a smaller piece of tissue paper around the bottom to wedge it in place. That’s it! Arrange however you like in the yard. We plan to put ours directly on the ground in front of the house. You could also put these on fence posts, in flower pots, and you could cut them at varying lengths to have a cascade effect. Hope you enjoyed our Outdoor Kinara! It was really fun to make and it’s really nice to look at.
