SimFarm was developed and published by Maxis first for MS-DOS in 1993, and then for Mac and Windows 3.1 in 1994 and 1996 respectively. The game is the 8th game created by Maxis, and is number 5 in the list of Sim games. In the game, players take the roll of a farmer. Starting with a small plot of land, players must make money and expand their farm by growing crops, buying and selling livestock, or both. The simulates farming challenges quite well, with players battling tornadoes, droughts, and wind storms, pests, and even too much rain fall. Each crop type requires different soil qualities, and water levels, and each has different levels of resistance to pests and blights. As players begin to make more money, they're house is added onto, and at the end of each year, players may make a suggestion to the city council as to what should be added to the town.
