Environment of evolutionary adaptedness (recurrent selection pressures and boundary conditions) is retrodictive, teleological, and tautological. Concept of mismatch (between erstwhile adaptations and changing environments). Mismatch implies any number of possible original environments and explanations for the development of a trait.
