Looking into the Future of Cannabis Accounting

This podcast marks a milestone for us at DOPE CFO: we’ve reached our 100th episode! It’s cause for celebration but also a good time to stop and reflect on where we started in the Cannabis industry and consider where the future of Cannabis is headed.. Since the beginning, my goal has remained the same: support Cannabis companies by getting more Cannabis trained accountants on board to help businesses thrive. Now, just a few years later, DOPE CFO has a fully dedicated, expert team of accounting professionals to help achieve the goal of reaching and teaching more accountants. Joining me to talk about the future of Cannabis is Raymond Guns, experienced CPA and COO of the DOPE CFO Certified Advisors program, David Lewis, our audit savvy accounting professional and President of DOPE CFO Certified Advisors, and newest member Kristi Kem, who will be serving as CFO success manager. As a team, we have tremendous faith in the future of this industry. We’ve seen how strong and stable the market is – the pandemic recession didn’t put a dent in Cannabis sales. It’s what makes us so sure that the future of Cannabis is bright. Even with Cannabis still being largely illegal, there’s hope. We’re starting to see more states caving in. Some of the most anti-Cannabis states like Nebraska are inching closer to legalization (even though it didn’t quite make the ballot this time around), which makes our role even more important. It motivates us to keep providing top quality training and resources to accountants just entering the sector and those who need support to scale. And we’re not stopping there. The DOPE CFO team isn’t just helping accountants land high end clients, we’re helping Cannabis businesses keep their doors open. By providing all the support and documentation accountants need, we’re enabling them to keep businesses compliant and pass through the audit process with flying colors.
